Participants will continue their usual asthma medications and also take two daily doses of either the study medication or a placebo for 6 months (24 weeks). Additional procedures include physical exams, vital signs, blood and urine testing, lung function testing, electrocardiograms (ECGs), and asthma and health questionnaires. Total participation will last approximately 8 months (32 weeks) and would include 9 office visits and 1 phone call with the study staff. Eligibility for the study will be determined by the study doctor following one or more in-person screening visits to the clinic. - Must be already diagnosed with asthma - Asthma diagnosis must have happened AT LEAST one year ago - Must have access to or be able to obtain documentation of your asthma diagnosis - Must use a corticosteroid inhaler (ICS) as your daily inhaler - Cannot also be diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, or COPD - No injectable biologic asthma medications in the last six months - No smoking in the last year
